“The risk of love is loss, and the price of loss is grief. But the pain of grief is only a shadow when compared with the pain of never risking love.” Hilary Stanton Zunin

About Dr. Vollaire

Dr. Melissa Vollaire founded Transitions Veterinary Service in 2015 to provide compassionate in-home euthanasia and end-of-life care for pets and their families throughout Colorado Springs, Monument, and surrounding communities.

As a veterinarian and lifelong animal lover, Dr. Vollaire understands the deep bond people share with their pets and the heartbreak that comes with saying goodbye. Through years of veterinary practice, she recognized that many families wanted a more peaceful alternative to a clinical setting for their pet’s final moments. This led her to create a service focused on helping pets remain comfortable in the familiar surroundings of home, surrounded by the people who love them most.

Dr. Vollaire specializes in in-home euthanasia for dogs and cats, quality-of-life consultations, and compassionate end-of-life care. Her calm presence, gentle approach, and attention to each family’s unique needs help create a peaceful experience during one of life’s most difficult transitions.

She considers it a privilege to guide families through this journey with compassion, dignity, and respect. Her goal is to help every pet experience a peaceful passing while providing families with the support, understanding, and reassurance they need along the way.

Through Transitions Veterinary Service, Dr. Vollaire remains committed to helping pets and the people who love them experience comfort, peace, and dignity at the end of life.

About Lori Sullivan

Lori Sullivan serves as Client Care Coordinator for Transitions Veterinary Service, where she is often the first person families speak with when facing difficult decisions about their beloved pets. With compassion, patience, and understanding, Lori helps guide families through the process of in-home euthanasia, quality-of-life consultations, and end-of-life care for dogs and cats.

Before joining Transitions Veterinary Service, Lori enjoyed successful careers as a court reporter and broadcast captioner. Following her retirement, she sought work that aligned with her lifelong love of animals and her desire to support people during meaningful moments in their lives.

Lori works closely with her sister, Dr. Melissa Vollaire, helping families throughout Colorado Springs, Monument, and surrounding communities navigate one of the most difficult parts of pet ownership. Whether answering questions, coordinating appointments, or simply listening when families need support, Lori strives to provide comfort, kindness, and reassurance every step of the way.

Outside of her work with Transitions Veterinary Service, Lori is a dedicated wildlife rehabilitator who has spent years caring for orphaned squirrels and raccoons. Her commitment to animal welfare and her deep respect for the bond between people and their pets are reflected in every interaction she has with the families she serves.

For Lori, this work is more than a profession—it is an opportunity to help families feel supported, informed, and cared for while honoring the lives of the pets they love.
