“The risk of love is loss, and the price of loss is grief. But the pain of grief is only a shadow when compared with the pain of never risking love.” Hilary Stanton Zunin
Dr. Melissa Vollaire – Veterinarian & Founder of Transitions Colorado
About Dr. Vollaire
Dr. Melissa Vollaire is a compassionate and dedicated veterinarian who founded Transitions Veterinary Services in 2015 with the mission of providing families and their beloved pets with a peaceful and dignified end-of-life experience. Specializing in in-home euthanasia, Dr. Vollaire understands the profound emotional weight of saying goodbye to a cherished animal companion. Her work is guided by her unwavering belief that every pet deserves to pass in a calm, loving, and familiar environment, surrounded by those who cared for them most.
Dr. Vollaire’s journey toward this unique and deeply personal field of veterinary care was shaped by both her professional experiences and her own life as a pet lover. Witnessing hospital euthanasia practices firsthand revealed to her the limitations of a clinical setting—often sterile, rushed, and stressful for both pets and their families. She recognized the need for a more compassionate and personalized approach, one that honors the bond between humans and animals in their final moments together.
Transitions Veterinary Services was born from this vision. Dr. Vollaire takes great pride in creating a serene and comforting atmosphere in her clients’ homes, allowing pets to feel safe and at ease in their familiar surroundings. Her empathetic demeanor and gentle guidance help families navigate this profoundly difficult decision, offering support, understanding, and respect every step of the way.
For Dr. Vollaire, her work is more than a profession—it is a calling. She feels deeply honored to be part of such a significant moment in the lives of pets and their families, ensuring that their final memories together are filled with love and peace. Her practice not only provides relief from pain and suffering but also creates a space for healing and closure, helping families cherish the bond they shared with their beloved companions.
In addition to her professional work, Dr. Vollaire is an advocate for raising awareness about end-of-life care options for pets. She believes in empowering pet owners with the knowledge and resources they need to make informed and compassionate decisions. Through her dedication and heartfelt approach, Dr. Melissa Vollaire has become a trusted and respected figure in her community, making a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their families.
